PEAK Employees

Giving back has been a key ingredient of our culture at PEAK for many years. In recent years our efforts have been focused on our local community and primarily on education, chosen by PEAK staff and employees as the area in which they could make the greatest impact. PEAK works closely with several DPS schools, especially those in the neighborhoods in the vicinity of the company headquarters. PEAK has forged an ongoing commitment to DPS, our local district, and has strived to form a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership. There are three primary areas in which PEAK engages with area schools: The PEAK Scholarship for Technology; Financial Literacy programs through Junior Achievement (JA); and, School Garden support at nearby Fairview Elementary.

PEAK has been incredibly fortunate to have virtually 100% participation in its community efforts from our PEAK employees and staff. Valuing the importance of a quality education for today’s youth and giving back to the community in which they live and work, PEAK’s people ensure our community-giving program succeeds and thrives.

PEAK Supports Students at KIPP Denver Collegiate High School with a Yearly College Scholarship

PEAK Resources has been proud to present a 4-year scholarship to assist college bound students from KIPP DCHS who are interested in pursuing a degree in the technology field for the past 5 years. Scholarship recipients also receive a laptop to assist them in their studies. The first college graduate from the PEAK scholarship program graduated in 2015.

In spring 2014, PEAK offered its most recent 4-year scholarship to Dania Estrada, a soon-to-be graduate of KIPP DCHS. Dania, an exceptional and highly motivated student, was headed to Duke University in North Carolina to major in bio-mechanical engineering. Congratulations Dania!

PEAK and Junior Achievement

PEAK is a firm believer in the quality programs produced by Junior Achievement, which provides financial literacy and entrepreneurship courses for students of all ages.

JA in a Day at the Castro Elementary School

Each year, enthusiastic PEAK volunteers join a group of equally excited volunteers from one of our most important partners - Cisco - to work with students at DPS’ Castro Elementary as part of Junior Achievement’s JA in a Day, a program that teaches young students the basics of financial literacy and entrepreneurship. Like their fellow volunteers from Cisco, the PEAK team utilized the JA in a Day curriculum to help their students begin to appreciate the important role finance and entrepreneurship play in their lives and communities. No injuries were reported.

JA’s Finance Park

PEAK’s dedicated employees also volunteer at JA’s Finance Park, a program that works with area high school students to illustrate the importance of financial literacy in real-world situations – buying a car or other major purchase, banking, housing, etc.

JA Start it Up

The Start it Up program from JA brought PEAK volunteers to KIPP DCHS to work closely with teams of students creating a proposal for a new flavor concept for Oogies Gourmet Popcorn. Business, entrepreneurship and creativity unite to make it work.

Food and Fairview

Each year the crew from PEAK heads over to nearby Fairview Elementary, home of Denver’s longest-standing school garden, to help get the garden ready for the students to plant and raise vegetables. The garden comes to life with the hard work, love and care of the students, where the value of hard work and a healthy crop of delicious vegetables grow before their eyes.

PEAK volunteers also support the Fairview community by donating the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to hundreds of Fairview families.

Schools in Haiti

PEAK’s commitment to education is not limited to our immediate Denver neighborhood, reaching as far as the small island nation of Haiti, where members of the PEAK team have, working with the Haiti Partners organization, dedicated countless hours over more than a decade working to build and rebuild schools for Haitian students.

Area Nonprofit Boards

Members of the PEAK leadership team and many of our employees also serve on a variety of area non-profit boards, lending their time, insights and experience, and wisdom to help these important community organizations fulfill their respective missions. Community organizations with which we work include: Cerebral Palsy, PEBC, Metro Volunteers, Haiti Partners, and Colorado Succeeds.

School Partner of the Year

PEAK’s work in the community was acknowledged in 2014 when the Denver Public Schools Foundation recognized PEAK as the “Small Business School Partner of the Year”. The award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of PEAK employees and staff and confirms the importance of our commitment to area students.
