Job Description

PEAK Resources is seeking a Cisco focused (route/switch and data center) network architect responsible for providing in-depth consulting, architectural design, and implementation services for PEAK’s diverse clients.  This position will work closely with other IT engineering disciplines to architect and implement complex IT solutions meeting the business requirements of our clients.

The ideal candidate is someone extremely comfortable in client facing roles – from presenting new and advanced network technologies to determining and documenting customer requirements, developing and presenting technical solution architectures, and finally leading or implementing the final design.  This combination of technical expertise combined with excellent customer relationship management skills will allow the successful employee to become a trusted advisor capable of building solid, long-term relationships with our clients.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients
  • Contribute to the overall success of the PEAK team
      • Articulate technology and product knowledge to clients and sales team
      • Eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
      • Assess and identify customer needs and recommend solutions aligned with customer business and technical requirements
      • Prepare cost estimates in line with the needs of clients and budgets
    • Develop content and conduct product demonstrations and webinars
    • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
    • Contribute to the development of statement of work documents for complex engagements (to include working with sales executives and other engineers to adequately scope and price complex engagements)
    • Work with sales to build relationships with key client personnel and communicate our solutions to diverse groups within the client.
    • Design, build and impalement complex enterprise networking solutions to a diverse range of clients
    • Stay current with certifications and technical expertise, specifically as it pertains to enterprise networking (CCIE highly desired)
    • Deliver professional services in support of engagements surrounding the OEM solutions that are sold
    • Provide technical leadership in the installation, configuration, and implementation of specific OEM products and PEAK solutions
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of specific OEM product lines
    • Assist in the design and deployment of PEAK internal processes and procedures

    Primary Responsibilities

    Business Generation / Planning

        • Meet with customers, helping establish and document requirements, and develop solution proposals (often in conjunction with other technology SME’s)
        • Contribute technical input to RFP/RFI activities
        • Provide Business development for market verticals you are involved in

    Client / Vendor Interaction

        • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
        • Schedule and attend client facing meetings with new and established clients
        • Participate in vendor technical and account planning meetings
        • Develop and present technical proposals
        • Follow-up on outstanding proposals / validate client has everything needed

    Internal Processes

        • Provide guidance, oversight and quote management with distribution partners.
        • Validate quotes referencing contract vehicle
        • Look to streamline internal processes so quotes can go out the door expediently with accuracy
        • Keep task list updated for all tasks assigned to you
        • Attend weekly team and 1:1 meetings to discuss open tasks


    Education and Experience

        • Working knowledge of the most current network technologies and products used in the industry, focusing on Cisco route/switch and datacenter technologies.
        • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in one or more engineering discipline
        • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with Cisco network products
          • Nexus 2000 / 5000 / 7000 / 9000
          • Catalyst 3x00 / 4500 / 6x00 / 9000
          • ASA Firewall
          • Router / Gateway Products
        • Nexus NXOS required
        • Cisco ACI / SDN experience highly desired.
        • VPC, FabricPath, OTV, NX-OS, IP internetworking, LAN Switching, Network Virtualization
        • Layer 3 Networking (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF)
        • Layer 2 Network configuration (TCP/IP/VLAN/802.1x/port-security)
        • Layer 1 Network infrastructure (cabling, switch ports, optics, etc.)
        • IP Routing protocols (IGRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
        • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting issues in complex datacenter environments, participating effectively with SME’s representing other technologies
        • Demonstrated experience developing and deploying scripts aiding in automated solutions a plus

        • Other OEM Network / Security certifications desired

        • Ability to work flexible work schedules (weekends and/or off hours as necessary to meet business needs)
        • Ability to develop and execute multiple priorities and approaches to meet internal and external objectives

    Business Generation / Planning

    Client / Vendor Interaction

    • Schedule meetings / calendar invite/ Webex for sales team as required by projects

    Quoting / Orders

    • Utilize Programs and Promotions to get PEAK & Client best pricing while maintaining GP
    • Have familiarity with Deal Registration process for all vendors
    • Validate quotes referencing contract vehicle abide by terms and pricing structure
    • Work with Sourcing options to validate pricing and availability of products.
    • Work with Operations / Finance to ensure smooth order and invoice process
    • Look to streamline internal processes so quotes can go out the door expediently

    Internal Process:

    • Ensure client solution information (Microsoft TEAM Site – internal database) and business process information is kept up to date
    • Help manage, track and follow-up on action items from meetings
    • Work with team to process network assessments per sales responsivities as defined in the Network Assessment Process document.
    • Ensure all expenses for the previous month by the first day of the new month for approval.
    • End of Sale / End of Support Notifications and suggest replacement path
    • Voice License Audits & Maintenance Reconciliations
    • Take certification tests as requested by TEKSCAPE
    • Attend weekly team meetings to discuss open tasks

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but as a senior technical member of the PEAK engineering staff, this position will provide technical leadership and mentoring to other members of the engineering staff.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

    Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
